New Director General for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation

The general public is hereby informed that, pursuant to the provisions of Section 13 (1) of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) Act of 2010, and in keeping with the recommendations by the Board of Trustees of the said corporation, it has pleased His Excellency the President to appoint Mr. Elvis G.K. Hallowell to the post of Director General of the SLBC, subject to the approval of Parliament.

Congratulations Elvis, I believe you will do a good job and make our generation proud. Let our people come to the realization that ‘The age of Methusela has nothing to do with the wisdom of Solomon.’
It requires a professional to handle an institution like SLBC where the tenets of good journalism is being subsidized with brown paper, yellow, and coasting journalism. With the appointment of Elvis Gbanabom Hallowell as SLBC’s Director General, I am with the strong conviction that this media institution has reached it’s peak of bad journalism and a turn to a new phase. Elvis if it requires some of us to return back home to improve the standard of journalism in the country, I would be more than happy to do so. I am appealing to you that do what it takes to make journalism a fine profession in Sierra Leone. I know your capabilities with my six month work at JHR and I trust your sense of judgement.
