A 14th-minute red card for New England’s Stephen McCarthy helped Sporting Kansas City ease its way to a 3-0 win on Saturday. The scorer of Kansas City’s second goal, Kei Kamara, was eager to express his St. Patrick’s Day spirit. But since chugging a Guinness, fighting an inanimate object and then vomiting on a stranger like everyone else does that day probably wouldn’t have pleased the MLS mothership, he celebrated his goal by doing a choreographed Riverdance with teammate C.J. Sapong while wearing novelty leprechaun hats.
Though Kamara was born in Sierra Leone, his interpretation of the Irish tradition of dancing like a marionette that’s paralyzed from the waist up was quite exceptional.
