Former SLPP Western Area Women’s Leader Declares For The Ruling APC Party
19th January 2012 · 1 Comment
Haja Rabi Allie, the former Women’s Leader for Sierra Leone’s main opposition party has declared for the ruling APC party. In November of 2011, Haja Rabi resigned from the SLPP and severed all ties with the main opposition party.
During an interview with Awareness Times, Sierra Leone’s leading newspaper, Haja Rabi had this to say when she resigned her position as Women’s Leader of the SLPP, in reaction to the selection of Dr. Kadi Sesay as running mate for Julius Maada Bio:
“We the grass root members would find it extremely difficult to work with her. That is one of the reasons why I decided to quit my position since I will not work within a structure that is doomed to fail”.
During the same interview with Awareness Times, the popular Freetown businessman had this to say about her membership of the SLPP: “I remain a supporter of the SLPP party and I will continue to respect my membership of the SLPP but I will not take part in campaigning for 2012 presidential elections”
As we publish the report, Haja Rabi Allie is at this moment at the APC party office declaring her support and membership of the ruling all people’s congress. Her declaration comes after SLPP thugs unleashed violence on Mr. Lansana Fadika, Mr. Ibrahim Lewally and others. Mr. Fadika and 124 other SLPP members had recently crossed over to the ruling party.
It seems as if the more the Sierra Leone Problem Party (SLPP) make violence their main political strategy to win the November 17, 2012 elections, the more their members cross over to the ruling party. As the days go by, more Sierra Leoneans will understand that supporting the SLPP ticket would bring more extrajudicial killings, targeted assassinations, continued violence and looting of Sierra Leone’s national treasury. On the other hand reelecting president Koroma would see continuous development and peace in Sierra Leone.
“If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in the struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.” —- Rev. Martin Luther King.
Note: The APC National Coordinator for the 2012 Elections, Hon. Logus Koroma and ABC Second In Command, Nanette Thomas contributed to this report in a telephone conversation while Haja Rabi declared for the ruling party. Stay logged for more details

This is a political stunt. Sieera Leoneans deserve better than this. When some of us read articles as such, it only confirms our supposition of how myopic majority of the self acclaimed journalists of Sierra Leone are today.
Journalism is not about boot leaking but rather analysing and commenting on burning issues or current trends, with a rationale of educating the masses and in the end making the right impact of creating change for the betterment of your readers. This is so the more informed and educated the masses are, the greater the tendency for politicians to be mindful of whatever they do. Unfortunately, Siaka Steven’s soul is still the Editor in Chief of the daily mail newspaper in Sierra Leone.
Taking a bi-partisan and a stringent critical and lateral thinking approach will do you and your country more good. Sierra Leone will improve and you will gain credibility.
I leave it to you to decide but that is my view. Lonta!!!!
