Sierra Leone: Imagine and Remember
Imagine for a moment that you are afraid, worried and unhappy
Imagine that you are hungry and you have no food to eat,
Imagine that you are thirsty but you have no water to drink,
Imagine that you are tired and sleepy but you cannot sleep,
Imagine that your back itches but you have no hands to scratch it.
Imagine being pricked by a needle or a heavy door is slammed on your finger,
Imagine being burnt by hot water or there is fire burning your flesh,
Imagine being under water, drowning, tied and you cannot escape,
Imagine being in a burning building but there is no way to escape,
Imagine you could escape but there are people outside ready to kill you,
Imagine having to make a choice between a raging fire and rebels’ bullets.
Imagine your hand being chopped off as you scream for mercy to deaf ears,
Imagine your leg being amputated as you pray for the end of your life,
Imagine you are pregnant, your stomach is split open and your child removed,
Imagine being rapped by many men as you are restrained by strong arms,
Imagine your mother, sister or daughter being rapped in your presence,
Imagine your friends and family being murdered while you are away
As Sierra Leone celebrates 50 years of Independence we must no longer imagine,
We must now remember and accept the reality that our people have not been imagining things.
In 50 years of Independent Dependence Sierra Leoneans have been through such predicaments
It has been our people’s unfortunate despicable reality not their imaginations.
“We must all be ready now to embrace change, change in our attitude towards one another,
change in our attitude to our work and responsibilities. All of those changes should translate
positively into progress and development for our country,”
His Excellency, Dr. Ernest B. Koroma.

Mr. Editor sir,is sierra leone a poor country?i don´t think so,imagine that Ernest Koroma call for a presidential candidate registration fee like 500.000 000 leones, in space of a week you will see more than 20 contestants but why is it that when the ruling party made a proposal to spend $25m instead of you to ask first you made a lot of imagination? i think you should first ask where this money come from and how this celebration is going to be program as for me i don´t know where this money come from because if it might be from taxes i´m not part of it because for a period of ten years i only pay once. Please lets put all power consciousness aside, come into one umbrella,we stop false emphases, false interpretation, false imagination, respect our leaders, stop contempt minded, stop saying we are no longer a fool because upon all the Cambridge university the alliterates reap all the wealth of this country to another upon all our knowledge we remain poor.Lets love each other, help your brother when necessary, please don´t be tired to keep educating the masses, you know we always take decision on what we don´t know, lets live peacefully be a watchdogs on all those trying to still the wealth of this country.thank you for your attention.
